This is for my husband age 84 his nose drips constantly, what can we do for it? He went to a ear, nose tho a t hroat dr.the dr said it was Rhinitis. He prescribed a nasal spray ipràtropium bromide, he took it for 7 8 days and said it wasn t worked so he quit using it.
Hi.. Thanks for asking us.. Its nice to know that you are so caring and patient about your husband at this age.. First thing ipratropium bromide spray cant be taken continuously for more than 4-5 days.. after 5 days at least you need to give a break of 7-10 days.. otherwise you develop drug induced rhinitis which is hard to treat.. Now stop ipratropium spray for at least 15-20days.. Coming to treatment of rhinitis -safest thing you can do whenever you want is nasal douching.. cleaning your nasal passages with home made solution -using anti histaminics on and off.. use them for a four days then give a break of four days.. like that you can use even few months as it doesnt cause much problem at this age -using steroidnasal spray if condition is not improving with supervision of ENT specialist Hope your problem will be solved soon and you enjoy your second innings..
