Suggest Remedies For Slurred Speech In An Elderly Person
A normally active woman age 73, showing recent signs of loss of speech - just some words hard to get out. She has recognised it herself. She also fell 2 days ago, just legs went from under her while standing in the kitchen, and fell against the cupboard handles and bruised her ribs. This woman normally is very active gardening and general acreage maintenance for several hours per day. She has recently had breast cancer, just a very small 1cm lump removed; none was detected in the lymph nodes, and is due to start radiation treatment for 4 weeks. She is very anxious about this and being able to lie down while it's done is concerning her a lot. Are these symptoms of anxiety? or could it be something else?
Loss of speech in older person can be a sign of stroke. In medical terms it is called cerebrovascular accident. She needs to get a CT scan of head to see if they is any stroke. Kindly consult a physician at the earliest or visit emergency department. Anti-clotting medication like Ecosprin, Clopidogrel may have to be started.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
