Hello,
Methimazole is used to treat overactive thyroid (
hyperthyroidism). It works by stopping the thyroid gland from making too much thyroid hormone.
Your last thyroid test results show a better situation of your thyroid function.
Anyway, for a patient that take anti-thyroid medication, it is recommended to monitor the thyroid panel tests and the possible side effects every month till the hyperthyroidism are stabilized and then to think about the definitive solution os the problem.
My advice for you is to repeat this test:
TSH test, T3 test, T4 tests a total blood count, and
SGOT, SGPT,
total bilirubin test.
The results will guide the doses adjustments of Methimazole and check for possible side effects of this treatment.
So, I suggest to do this test as soon as possible and then to consult physically your mother"s treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
