Suggest Remedy For A Cut On Foot From A Rusty Metallic Object

I cut my foot on a rusty ladder when getting out of a lake onto a dock. The ladder has been in the lake (in Maine) for the past few weeks. I ve had a tetanus shot within the past 10 years and I ve cleaned the wound with soap/water, alcohol, antibiotic ointment, and put a band-aid with neosporin on it. Is there anything else I should do? I am a 29-year-old male.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
What needs to be done to take care of the wound, you have already done.
Keep the wound clean. You can wash it with medicated iodine solution twice daily.
Keep the wound open once it starts healing. Avoid trauma to the wound. You can continue to use Neosporin ointment or powder till there is skin approximation.
Wish you speedy recovery.
