Hello,

I understand your concern. Although rare, constipation is a side effect of Flucloxacillin. A stool softener is as effective as senna, so using either or a combination of both is the reasonable thing to do for short term use. If that brings relief and you think you can complete the Fluclox course, then by all means, go ahead. But if despite using a laxative for the duration of the antibiotic course you continue to experience cramps and constipation then I would advise you to discontinue the Fluclox and ask your doctor you give you a prescription for an antibiotic alternative.

Wishing you good health and all the best.
