Suggest Remedy For Bruises In Arms

I had a large, red bruise appear on my arm. It was slightly swollen abd felt warm to the touch. I am 52, and on HRT since having a hysterectomy about 18 months ago. Should I be concerned? I have a doctor appointmnent in a couple of weeks. Is it safe to wait until then to mention it to my doctor? The bruise has turned pale brown and is no longer swollen or feverish. There was never any black, blue, yellow, or green coloring. I am about 5 feet 4 inches and weigh about 125 pounds.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

If there is history of trauma to the affected part then there is nothing to worry about, but in absence of history of trauma you need to get your blood work up done to rule out any coagulation disorder. Usually with hormone replacement therapy their is tendency towards hyper-coagulation and not hypo-coagulation, which means that your blood will clot more rather then less, while spontaneous bruising indicates diminished clotting.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
