Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of a 38 years old female patient who has constipation for a long time, have gall bladder symptoms , colonoscopy normal, PCP has said this to be IBS Linzess worked at first, but no more now. What next?
- For the diagnosis os IBS, all the relevant investigations should be negative.
Colonoscopy is normal.
Also go for tests of stool for three days, urine and blood and a CT scan of the whole abdomen so that the proper diagnosis can be made either by confirming or ruling out the problems.
Control of stress and anxiety has a large role in the IBS-C .
Try different types of laxatives and continue the one that suits you the best say for about 1 week.
Repeat only if needed.
Make a list of the foods and beverages that cause constipation and stop them altogether.
Make a list of the foods and beverages that help having normal motion and continue these alone.
