Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 15year old son with severe fistulising crohns....its the fistulisation/pelvic pain we believe from nerve damage causing most the pain. This has been going on for 12 months. In the past 10 days we have new symptoms which involve inability to take a breath which lasts for a couple of minutes followed by severe shooting perianal pain and then vomiting. We are concerned that the breathing issues are of concern, however feel that it could also be a pre-cursor to the pattern of events which take place when he has an onset of this type of pain episode. He has a regular morphine lozenge to help with the pain when one of these episodes takes place. Would be interested on your views?? Thanks Marie
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, what the history is given here and present breathing complaints are not connected with each other if this is the respiratory infection then such symptoms could be likely and it needs to be ruled out, more over opioid drug like Morphine may also cause such symptoms underlying cause of the respiratory symptoms is matter of concern, last but not least it could be due to hyperacidity and in my opinion it needs to be first treated on tentative basis hope this information helps.
