Hi, when was your father diagnosed with PVD and how? If he has black discoloration as you say then he has got critical ischemia which is a serious condition. Does he have pain when he sleeps at night and he gets up? Is he able to walk a few hundred meters? DO let us know. He will require a CT Angiography and probably a Angioplasty/ Stenting or Bypass surgery. But its too early for me to tell. Please let me know the answers to the above and get a CT angiography done at the earliest. Continue the medicines as you mentioned. You can also contact me on 'Ask a Specialist' icon directly. He needs urgent treatment so take it seriously. Take care,
Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
