Suggest Remedy For Irregular Bowels With Constipation
My 9 year old has irregular bowel movements. Some days it is really hard for her to go and she cries from the pain. We have tried Miralax in the past w/some relief, but if we don t use it regularly we are back to being constipated. Any suggestions?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
First, he should try to treat this without medications since most constipations in children are caused by dietary habits and some functional bowel disorders. He should try first with increased fiber intake. Good fiber sources include bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, Fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans. ALso, he must increase fluid intake and move as much as possible. Only if there is no improvement he can take glycerin suppositories or Miralax. . If there wont be improvement on these measures, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing should be done. Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
