The cause of the low back pain is not apparent from the details that you have provided and he needs to be examined and investigated. The age of your husband the duration of onset of the pain is important and you have not mentioned that either. If it is acute, it could have been caused due to some electrolyte imbalance (due to low potassium) where taking juicy fruits like citrus fruits is likely to help. It could also be due to lumbar spondylosis or slipped disc As of now, some muscle relaxant, analgesic and hot compress should be helpful. Please visit a doctor and get it examined and treated.
