Suggest Remedy For Pain And Burning Sensation In Thigh After Injury

Yesterday afternoon I was moving a large ceramic flower pot with a buddy, he dropped his side and the amount of force twisted my upper left back thigh muscles to point where PAIN went shooting down my left leg, in back, burning sensation behind knee cap, and middle calf pain full and feels like a brick really heavy. Lower buttocks upper back thigh really did not hurt as bad as other pain shooting down leg. I did not feel a snap nor hear a pop, just twisted really bad. This morning upon standing for a little while, left leg just gave out, and I almost fell, hurts to walk, and if I turn funny, leg gives out. What can I do for this situation, without taking drugs? What is this muscle in back of thigh or is it a tendon that - how do I heal this, I am a very active person, and this is absolutely horrible.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your problem can be most likely due to intervertebral disc injury of lumbosacral spine and possible ligament injury to knee. X-ray examination of lumbosacral spine and knee should be carried out initially. MRI will be required to know the exact status. You will need a short period like 1 week rest. Analgesics like Ibuprofen and muscle relaxants like Cyclobenzaprine will be helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
