Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I recently hurt my ankle last week, at times it s very tender to walk on at other times I can bare some of my weight on it. The last few days it has throbbing non stop, sending the pain up my right leg, im also having a tingle sensation in my right foot that goes up my leg as well. I ve been keeping it wrapped with ace bandages along with applying heat and cold to it. It s been a week today, and the throbbing can be unbearable. Is this normal and will go away in time or should I have it looked at?
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
It might be soft tissue injury or fracture. Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance. In the interim, apply ice packs to the affected area,anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting and rest well.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
