my 3 yrs old male child for the last one year protin lekage in urine. we have taking in treatment in child insitute in egmore chennai. (alubumin3+ r 2+) take medine prednisolen 20mg,calciam loctate 1, every mng. not fubbing, urine normal,but no improvement in the above medicines now wat shoud i do

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. It appears the child is having steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome
2. He will need a renal biopsy before going for specific treatment to identify the cause. Based on diagnosis of minimal change disease or focal segmental glomerulsclerosis or others, treatment will vary.
3. Treatment will include calcineurin inhibitors like tacrolimus or cyclosporine, or intravenous cyclophosphamide or combination therapy with corticosteroids. Further management dependent on biopsy report. Increase protein in diet.
