Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I off and on have experienced bleeding from my rectum. Some days it is worse than others. I mostly experienced this since I had a colon exam and polyps were removed. I also recently had an emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. I do experience pain in my stomach and mostly the left side under below my ribs and than lower abdomen pain. Of course moving my bowels makes the bleeding worse. It is bright blood but I also have small dark blood clots. Should I be concerned?
Fresh bleeding in stools is very much suggestive of haemorrhoids in your case.
I would advise you to increase water intake, include fibres in your diet by taking more salads, green leafy vegetables and avoid constipation by taking ispaghul and some laxatives like castor oil.
Do walk regularly especially after meals and avoid stress. If symptoms do not improve with these measures, then you need to see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Muhammad Zahir Shah, Internal Medicine Specialist
