Suggest Remedy For Rheumatoid Arthritis In Pregnancy

My wife (aged 31) who has active Rheumatoid arthritis since age 17 has not conceived for the second time. She is 7 months pregnant now. Recently, her right knee started flaring up and filled with liquid and she can barely straighten her leg or walk.In previous similar situations, the doctor usually extracts the fluid with a needle and replaces it with diprofose solution. However, in her current pregnant situation is it okay to take diprofose directly into the knee ?She is in intense suffering and a quick answer would be highly appreciated :) Thanks for this awesome free health service :)

Hi,
I have read your query & understand your concern.
- Actually the severity of rheumatoid arthritis is lessened during pregnancy. still for acute flare of the disease in pregnancy pain killers/ non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs are preferred & are more safe.
- Careful small & tapering course of steroids can be considered in more severe attack .Specific drug like Methotrixate is avoided as far as possible ,but can be prescribed if the condition demands by a joint decision of obstratician & rheumatologist.
- Intra arthritic Diprophose injection is without any effects on pregnancy/ fetus , so can be given in pregnancy- safely in absence of any fungal infection in body.
Thanks.
