Suggest Remedy For Soreness In Hip Flexor

I m 15 and I run track. My hip flexor has been sore since November, it has gotten worse since then. I went to an athletic trainer several times which helped for a while. Now i ve taken this whole week off from running but it still hurts a lot. Im wondering if it s a hip stress fracture because the bone in the front also hurts a lot too the touch. I have been stretching all week but it doesn t feel any better. I have 1 more week off before the season starts again. Should I get an MRI to see if it s a hip stress fracture? Could it be the hip flexor and a stress fracture?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptom seem to be related to tendinitis of the hip flexor.

I suggest to do an xray of the hip to exclude the possibility of a fracture.

I also suggest to use anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day.

I also recommend resting and ovoid overuse of the hip.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
