Suggest Remedy For Swelling And Pain In The Calves

Hello, I am having swelling and pain in my calves and left foot. There is also a noticeable increase in spider veins in both calves. I ve been wearing compression socks for the past 6 months and they really help, but if I take them off, it s only a matter of a couple of hours before my calves are painful and swollen again.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms suggest possibility of flared up symptoms of varicose veins OR deep vein thrombosis in calf. I would suggest to consult an expert physician urgently, to examine you physically, get investigations like USG scanning or MRI done to get exact diagnosis and offer you specific treatment. I would suggest to restrict affected leg movements. No massage or hot pad till doctor examination and advice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
