Suggest Remedy For Swelling And Pain Under Jawline

Hi, a few hours ago I was on a flight. about an hour into the flight I experienced a sharp throbbing pain under my jawline on the right side of my face. On a scale of 1-10 the pain was about an 8, it felt swollen to the touch both on my cheek and underneath the jawline. It lasted for about an hour and then went away. what could this have been caused by?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your query the pain you faced while in a flight is called "BAROTRAUMA"
which means pain caused or induced due to change in pressure with rise in height above sea level.

At higher altitudes the pressure is low as compared to ground level so the pressure inside the body and outside the body is different which leads to pain.

It normally resolves once the pressure gets normal.

Moving the jaw side to side, swallowing ,yawning are few ways to try equalize the pressure..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
