Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grandson fell over a week ago, on a rock with his knee. It was cleaned out with peroxide and he has been fine. Today, he came home from school and the knee is swollen and warm to the touch. He said he did not fall on it today. What should we do?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. It's likely to be an infection if the skin around the swelling is red and warm. So you must consult your doctor who will do his physical examination and act accordingly. He will check whether swelling is adherent to bone, muscle or skin. He may advise you some investigations including some blood tests and if lump is adherent to bone or muscle he may advise you MRI scan to know the extent of lump.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
