Hi, I recently had a routine exam done and my doctor noticed my thyroid was enlarged. I had an ultrasound and they said I had a multi nodular goiter and a small lymph node. I was sent to a endocrinologist and am waiting on my blood work. I'm not sure why they mentioned that they saw a lymph node....is that common? Or should I be concerned? I'm only 22, female, 125 lb, 5'5". I have never had any trouble with my thyroid in the past but it is common in my family, no goiters just hypothyroidism.
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have enlarged thyroid and ultrasound suggest multinodular goitre. You should go for T3, T4 and TSH test. You should also go for fine needle aspiration cytology of thyroid to rule out papillary carcinoma of thyroid. Because you have some enlarged lymphnode so papillary carcinoma need to be ruled out. Then plan medical or surgical treatment according to diagnosis.
