Suggest Remedy For Vomiting After And During Feeding

My daughter is almost 6 weeks old and from day one she has been spitting up/throwing up after and during every feeding. We have tried reducing the amount of formula she has in a setting to 2 oz every 2 to 3 hours, we keep her up right for 45 min to an hour after feeding, we have the head of her bed elevated we burp her every 1/2 oz and all the other recommendations that go along with letting gravity help her keep her food down. We have also tried several formulas in the hospital after I had her we thought we had it figured out and similac was the answer. As soon as we got home it stopped working. We tried powder and liquid and neither worked so her Dr tested her to see if soy was the answer and the test was negative so we just switched her to similac for spit up and stayed with that for almost 2 weeks and it was just as bad, we went back he tested her again and it was still negative so we tried enfamil ar and that didn t work either. At that appointment he put her on zantac and that has solved the screaming during and after her feedings. She was on the enfamil ar for 2 weeks and again it was just as bad as the other two so he switched her to enfamil nutramigen on Thursday just in case the test is wrong and its a soy based formula that claims to help with Colic and although we are almost 100% sure she doesn t have Colic he just wanted to cover our bases... and its not working either....

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...this is called regurgitation. This is not vomiting. if the baby is active otherwise and gaining weight normally and showing good signs of development then you need not worry about this regurgitation soon after feeds.

If the baby is gaining weight and still having this regurgitation then it is not GERD (gastroesphageal reflux also). So it doesn't require anti-reflux measures too.

You are right. This is not infantile colic also. Do not worry.
