Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had constipation for three years now. I had surgery and was diagnosed with a rectal prolapse, uterine prolapse, cystocele, and rectocele. I have tried everything from fiber, water, eating more fruit and veggies. What can I do? I'm at my witts end.
Hello, I can understand your concern for your health 1) Being diagnosed with rectal prolapse, uterine prolase, cystocele and rectocele indicate you might have abnormal muscle tone of pelvic floor group of muscles. 2) Constipation in your case might be due to obstructive lesion rather than physiological reason (like indigestion), which is due to either external compression from prolapsed uterus or from internal obstruction from rectal prolapse. 3) To get relief from this, you require surgery but it is inappropriate to suggest surgery without knowing age and overall general status of your health. 4) For symptomatic relief from constipation you can do pelvic floor exercise, take stool softener or laxative to keep stool consistency soft and to reduce straining.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further query then I would be happy to help you. Have a good day!
