I am Masooma Mirza from Mumbai. At present I am visiting and staying with my children in the US.
Fifteen days back I had an attack of Herpes Zoster on the left side of my face. After taking medicine for a week for Herpes Zoster (Shingles) I suffered from Bell's Palsy. The left side of my face is totally paralyzed / frozen. My left eye remains open and I cannot blink (left eye only). My facial nerves on the left side of my face are also effected. I cannot smile/ frown or lift my eyebrow on the effected side.
I am applying some artificial tears ointment (Petrolatum 57%/Mineral oil/Lacri- Lube Opth Oint.) in this eye every 3 hours and taping the eye shut at night.
Please advise whether I can be treated for my facial weakness through physical therapy involving facial exercises to help me improve or regain control of my facial muscles at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital if I return back to Mumbai immediately?
Thank you for your kind advise.
Best Regards, Masooma Mirza
