Suggest Solution For Broken Nail

Our 2 year old daughter dropped a fairly heavy aerosol can on the base of her big toenail about 2 months ago. Initally the nail turned dark red right where the blow took place, right along the nail base. As time has passed, the nail has begun to competely seperate from the nail bed on the inside half of the nail, and begun to project up, while the outside half has remained attached. We are, naturally, quite concerned, and wonder what steps we should take, if any, as we had simply assumed that it would just grow out and be replaced by the new nail. Of course, she won't let us touch it, and we are quite concerned it will catch on something and rip off.

Hi,
It seems that her old nail will gradually came out replacing new nail on its place.
Give her a course of antibiotic to prevent infection or if infection is present.
Keep bandage with application of antibiotic cream so that partially detached nail will not trap on cloth giving more trouble and infection.
Ok and take care.
