Suggest Solution For Swelling And Tenderness In Ankle

ankle swollen I am 46 yrs old and recently decided to get back in shape through diet and exercise. after one week of walking and jogging about 2 miles 3 times a week both my ankles are swollen and very tender to the touch. a friend suggested that the wrong shoes may be the culprit. they hurt all the time, even when going barefoot or wearing slippers. I have not exercised since last week. any idea what could be causing this and/or any suggestions on what to do? I have ordered some shoes designed specifically for jogging in hopes that they may help. thanks for your time.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The swelling and tenderness in the ankles can be due to wrong running shoes, inadequate warming up, any ligament stretch, etc. You can give it some rest and take mild anti inflammatory pain killers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
