Suggest Substitute Medicine For Clindamycin After A Root Canal

I had a root canal two days ago & was prescribed clindamycin. I am having side affects & reading all kinds of horrible things online that this drug has done to people. What can I take in place of it & more importantly, why is it still on the market?????

There are other antibiotics you can take but it would be best to ask your dentist which would be best in your case. Amoxicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanate, sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim are some possibilities. All drugs have potential side effects and by law they are supposed to be listed. If you read the information on almost any drug, you will wonder why ANY drug is on the market! All known side effects are included, even if they are extremely uncommon. Clindamycin is an effective antibiotic and has been used for decades, so it is thought to be reasonably safe; that's why it's still on the market. Hope this answers your query.
