Suggest Suitable Therapy For Anxiety Disorder & Irrational Fears

Hello doctor,
My name is Anjana from Hubli, Karnataka. I am suffering from Anxiety disorder & Irrational fears since 6 years. I m under medication since then. but now I feel the medication is not showing its effects. I am feeling miserable. I am living hell. The nedications i m taking is Lonozep-0.5 mg & UVOX 50. Pls help me

Hello thanks for asking

You have severe anxiety and irrational fear. You are on Clonazepam 0.5 mg and Fluvoxamine 50 mg per day with no relief. Fluvoxamine is a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and the drug can control anxiety and irrational fear effectively. But since last 6 years you are taking the medicine and there is no relief. As per my opinion the dose the dose of Fluvoxamine you are taking is insufficient and it should be increased. I am afraid low dose of Fluvoxamine is responsible for poor response. It should be increased to at least 100 mg per day. Consult your psychiatrist again for re-evaluation and dose adjustments.

For episodic anxiety and irrational fear drugs like Propranolol can be used. The drug help to decrease the symptoms of anxiety. Clonazepam 0.5 if used on SOS basis can control the symptoms.

Apart from that Relaxation exercises, Behavior therapy have good results.
