Suggest Suitable Therapy For Dementia
My mom is 89 yoa, with medium stage dementia. She knows us and our names. She has anxiety for years. Took different meds for agitation, nervous, anxiety. Now on zyprexa And klonopin First 3 weeks she was fabulous!!!! Then slow decline and 2 months later: shuffling gait, shakes legs, drooling, sleep all day or unable to keep eyes open, slur speech, hand tremors, jaw tremor. Is there a test to determine if too much zyprexa? Over medicated vs an advancement in dementia (which nursing home is stating). I think over medicated. Started reducing dosage of zyprexa this week. Anyway in my opinion you should schedule a brain MRI because it will determinate the cause of dementia
There are a lot of other meds which help patient to slow the progression of dementia but unfortunately nothing stops the proces

Well come to HCM
Your mother seems to have geriatric problem and some time this does not need any specific treatment, Benzodiazepine can be tried but care need to be taken before initiating this therapy, because of her age certain routine tests required, discus this with her physician, hope this helps
