Suggest Tests To Confirm HIV After Having Unsafe Sex
hi.I'm bi sexual. I had contact to a man yesterday. He was stroking his cock, also produced some precum. Afterwards he put his finger 2-3 cm in my ass and moved it a bit. I'm afraid he used the same hand which he also used for masturbating. I'm afraid of getting infected with hiv. Should I start a PEP?
Hi, Welcome to HCM. PEP is mainly meant for occupational exposure among the health care providers. Handling of penis during masturbation and fingering into anus carry a negligible risk for HIV transmission as per CDC, Atlanta, USA. PEP is not indicated for such acts. Rule out this negligible risk for HIV through HIV test (ELISA, Rapid or 4th generation COMBO test) 12 weeks after the risky activities. Dr S.Murugan
Hi and welcome. This is not considered to be risky intercourse if you ask me and if you dont have some evidence that your partner was hiv positive then I dont think that HIV post-exposure prophylaxis is necessary before tests is done. ost HIV tests are antibody tests. Antibodies are produced by your immune system when you’re exposed to viruses like HIV or bacteria. HIV antibody tests look for these antibodies to HIV in your blood or oral fluid. The soonest an antibody test will detect infection is 3 weeks. Wish you good health. Regards
