im in medical proffession. Two days ago while i was collecting all the medical equipment such as probe, artiforceps, scissors and so on for sterlising, accidently i touched one of my injury on my forehead with the same hand which was bleeding a little bit,the equipments were completely dry and they did not had any sign of fresh blood but im frightened and wanted to know how long does hiv survive on medical equipment and are there any chances of hiv transmission
You have very negligible chance. Because hiv virus cannot survive very long outside the body and on equipment. Till date very few cases are noted qhere hiv spread to medical person by this kind of contact. so don't worry you're safe most likely. But we should not take chance. So go for confirmatory hiv testing after s month if exposure to confirm that you are safe.
