Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My neighbor a woman of approximately 69 last week was showing signs of steadiness. She had an Mri of the brain..which showed nothing and was told to see a neurologist who said meds she was on were not showing up as they are generic??? Today she was walking very drastically. She has some big polar issues and is on meds for that. The neurologist suggested she see a psychiatrist....We think she should find another primary dr..as she is getting worse..we would appreciate any suggestions as to what this may be and your suggestions. Thank you for your time.....
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Medications in the elderly require titrating and needs to be watched for adverse events. 2. She will require caretaker to manage her, especially with bipolar issues. 3. You are right in her, meeting her primary doctor as symptoms are not improving. Caretaker - all round the clock along with family support is essential to monitor medications, diet and help with personal things.
Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
