Suggest Therapy For Bed Wetting

This is very hard to talk about. But I am 18 years old (Almost 19) and I still wet the bed. I have tried everything in the book and taken every med you that is in the book...but nothing works. I have been on desmopressin for many years now because it is what lowers how often it happens, but doesn t work every night. Doctors have told me since I was 8 that this is something that I would grow out of. But when they noticed I wasn t growing out of it they ran every test they could think of. I am not a deep sleeper, my bladder and kidneys are normal size and are healthy,I don t drink many fluids at night, I use the bath room many many times before going to bed to avoid bed wetting, and I do not have Diabetes. I have changed my life to work around this. Including never staying at a friends house. Quitting the dance team because we had to go to a week long dance camp or we couldn t be on the team. And changing colleges because the college I planned to go too required freshmen to live in a dorm. My own boy friend doesn t know, and we are getting next year.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Development of symptoms of bed wetting at the age of 17 for the first time is not due to enuresis.

Melatonin is the most probable cause of the symptoms. Consult your treating doctor for reviewing the dosage of melatonin.

At the same time a micturating cystography for assessing the micturation process and to detect any abnormality in the process. The procedure will be done and assessed by a urologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
