Suggest Treatment For 'ASD Secundum With L-R Shunt' On Doppler In A Child

Test result:

Test name : 2D,Doppler & Colour flow imaging

Date : 04.08.11

Patients name : Saana

Sex ; female

Age : 4 months

Test Result : SMALL ASD secondum with L-R shunt. Trivial TR. PASP 22 mmHg

Pls advice me what is nest?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

This study is of 4.08.11 , means your baby is now 3 year old.

Before answering your question I need answers of following questions,

1. How is health of your baby , is she gaining appropriate weight , Is her growth normal.

2.as any follow up electrocardiography and other workup done

3.Is there is respiratory distress or rapid heart rate

If all parameters are normal other than ASD , ASD needs to closed before age of school entry (say 5 years) , if not she need a closure right now.

I have tried to answer your query very little information available , she needs detailed evaluation before deciding further course of action.

Usually a person with small ASD lives a normal life with no restrictions.
