Suggest Treatment For COPD In An Elderly Person

My 90 year old father just started Neurotin on Monday. Skin speciailist put him on it for skin itching that did not seem to have any obvious cause. He started Monday with 1...is now up to 6 / day (maximum dose indicated on bottle) 2 days ago he began to complain that he can t hang on to anything..in both arms. He is in a motorized wheelchair due to COPD---so noticeable change in walking would not be an issue. but this is noticeable. today he dropped his coffee cup and pop can---he says he can t keep a grip on it. could this be a possible side effect of the medicine? as I see it says coordination problems .? glennda currence in Davenport IA

Hello,
Yes, this could be a side effect of the Neurontin. Please call his physician and let them know what is going on. They will probably want to taper down the dose.
Regards
