Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had a tongue biopsy for a suspicious lesion. I am taking Cimzia, an anti-tumor necrosing drug for crohn's disease and am therefore immuno-suppressed. My doctor did not prescribe any antibiotics or recommend special care for the biopsy. Shouldn't I be doing something to prevent possible infection?
What is the lesion showing? What is the pathology report says? Immune suppression may prone to leukoplakia, oral glossitis or candidiasis or oral ulcers and rarely malignancy. Please follow with your treating doctor he may lower the dose to decrease the side-effects.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
