Suggest Treatment For Deviated Nasal Septum

Hello Doctor, I am a 54-year-old man. I have been suffering from Deviated Nasal Septum (DNS), which was detected more than 2 years ago. As a result of this disease, I am unable to get a proper sleep. This past winter, I spent several nights without sleep as I was unable to breathe properly. I have consulted a number of doctors who have all been of the view that a minor surgery is the only answer. At the same time, however, I am told that even surgery is not a permanent cure as the problem recurs after a gap of 3-4 years. Could you please suggest any other remedy? Regards, Ashok Tuteja

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood that you are suffering from improper sleep most probably due to DNS that is deviated nasal septum.

I would suggest you the following.
Since you have a sleep problem at the moment, the most important issue is to get operated to relieve the obstruction, It may grow or not grow is the issue of later years.
If properly treated, it may not grow again.
Also needed is a CT scan of the nose and the sinuses to have clinical correlation so that the proper decision can be taken by your ENT Surgeon.
Till then just see whether the nasal decongestant drops and oral antihistamine and steroid are working or not.

I find this answer helpful
