Endocrinologist 's  Response
Good day,
Noted your concern. I presume you had Grave's disease and hence had radio iodine treatment. The aim of radio iodine is to destroy thyroid follicular cells and hence there is a high likelyhood of developing hypothyroidism. You may require Eltroxine if you develop hypothyroidism and i am afraid to say that it is likely to be life long. But, please do not worry. Eltroxine is a safe medicine and is essential to lead a healthy life in hypothyroidism.
Wish you good health
