Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
32 year old female with previous issue with bulimia which resulted in Malory Weiss Tear of lower esophagus/stomach area. Disorder under control but new symptom of severe bloating in abdomen. Sensitive to discussion of weight or appearance unsure how to address. Just had first menstrual cycle in many years. Not sure if Gynecological or gastrointestinal? Please advise
In most cases, Mallory-Weiss tears spontaneously resolve; however, consider pharmaceutical therapy (Vasopressin, Pantoprazole) in cases of persistent bleeding or complications.
Esophageal clips should be applied at the site of active bleeding. Endoscopic band ligation has been used and was shown to be an effective and safe procedure for patients with severe bleeding.
If it still not improved, then you need surgery. Your symptoms may be due to peptic ulcer disease or food Intolerance etcetera. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
