I have been suffering from severe TMJ for over a year now! I'm 14 years old and my insurence is medicaid, they wont cover a mouth splint till i'm like 17. At the dentist they have to use inferior dental block because I cant open wide enough. My jaw locks closed, I cant eat anything hard, anything chewy, or gum etc. I have tension headaches all the time. (I'm experincing one now and i'm crying it hurts so bad) The pain is horrible and My oral dentist gave me Meloxicam 7.5mg but it just puts me to sleep. They said they don't know what to do, for someone my age and I'll have to wait 3 or 4 more years. I can't wait that long! I have horrible neck and upper back pain constantly. Does anyone have any ideas? Or a good doctor who specialize in TMJ in children In triad area in NC?? any answers please I can't deal with it anymore. It makes me want to rip off my head!!
temporomandibular joint problems can be reduced in severity but cant be cureed forever. you need to take many precauttions since you have chronic TMJ tenderness. does your joint makes clicking sound? avoid opening your mouth wide. dont eat hard food.meloxicam can only treat sympomatic pain. you need to war splints to avoid any further damage to joint.
