Suggest Treatment For A Painful Meniscus Tear

I have recently lost my oldest son and have a torn meniscus. I have been prescribed tramadol for the pain and have taken Benadryl. It seems that when I combine these drugs my grief is increased and I feel very drugged out. Is there an interaction between these 2 drugs

Hi,

A meniscal tear is one of the most frequently occurring cartilage injuries of the knee.

Treatment for meniscal tears depends on the size and location of the tear.

Please avoid activities that aggravate your knee pain, especially any activity that causes you to twist, rotate or pivot your knee.

Ice can reduce knee pain and swelling. Use a cold pack, a bag of frozen vegetables or a towel filled with ice cubes for about 15 minutes at a time, keeping your knee elevated.

Do this every four to six hours the first day or two, and then as often as needed. Physical therapy can help you strengthen the muscles around your knee and in your legs to help stabilize and support the knee joint.

Adding to these measures tramadol will help. There is no major interaction between tramadol and Benadryl except for the fact that if taken together you may feel dizzier.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
