Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
noticed a raised red area (approx. 1cm in diameter) with small pustule in middle, located on anus. mild discomfort, eliminating normally, very warm compress applied to area, but no expression of pus. could this be an ingrown hair? should i continue with warm compresses?
An ingrown hair is generally located "near the anus" and not in the anus so I'd like to be more clear with the location. Anywhere you're doing good I think with your warm compresses and why not using an antihemorroidal cream. With mild discomfort you can continue like this till the "spontaneous" resolution without seeing a proctologist.
