Suggest Treatment For A Swollen Toe Joint.

Hi, you may be able to help me before wasting the doctors time. I landed funny on my right foot doing a sport last night and have swollen, discolored joint from my big toe - any suggestions as to what I should do or what the doctor will say i should do?

Hi..

Well it can be a soft tissue injury leading to overstretched muscle and can also lead to discoloration secondary to inflammation and spilled blood from small injured blood vessels leading to bruising and swelling..

So my suggestion is to do ice packs over it and take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
You can also apply muscle relaxant ointment or gel over it,

Elevate your feet while lying down on bed..

In case if there is no improvement in next 3-4 days consult an Emergency room and get checked and an x ray can be done for further confirmation..

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
