Hello All the symptoms ,mentioned by you about your husband seems to be due to hyper acidity or gastritis . Usually such type of symptoms develop due to over eating , tension , anxiety or due to spicy or greasy or fried foods on previous days ( before these symptoms ). So avoid these items in food . Also give him some antacid but if there is severe belching , pain in and behind sternum. pain in left side , he may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors like pantaprazole-d once or twice in day for 3-4 days . Beside these measures also provide relief in long term. Try raising the head of your husband s bed about 4 inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for 2 hours before he lie down. To control stomach acid one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or pizza or burger. Since pain is also on the left side ,so if don t get relief within one day consult a primary care physician and get his opinion . In my opinion if he is having fever then consult your physician and get his opinion.
