Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Blood In Stool
I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis 3 weeks ago. I have been on a steroid treatment for 3 weeks. I began having symptoms again yesterday as though I never started the treatment. The main difference is more abdominal pain & not bright red blood in my watery stool.
Lymphocytic colitis is a disease in which it is difficult to know the exact cause hence the treatment is symptomatic and as per the probable cause thought about. You have also to find out the foods, beverages that instigate or enhance the problem and stop these altogether. It is also possible that the dose of steroids needs reconsideration may need an increased dose to get the results.
Watery stool with or without blood needs lab tests for the stool for three consecutive days. Test of blood for thyroid functions and another relevant test. Clinical evaluation by a gastroenterologist and review with additional information can help to get you a better diagnosis and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
