Suggest Treatment For Alzeihmers Disease

Hello Sir . My mom is suffering from Alzeihmers/Dementia . She showed the signs of this desease 3 years ago when my father s all toes got amputated , my mom was always anxious about my fathers health . My mom is taking medications since 7 months . Medications include (Memantine Hydrochloride- 20mg daily , Escitalopram - 10mg daily , VIT- B1,B6,B12 supplements daily , Multivitamins/Minerals by FoodPlus 1 daily , 900mg Omega-3 supplement daily ). She cannot wear her clothes and her shoes properly without external help . Doctors have no hope of her getting cured . Is there any cure for her available , or could you give me any suggestions . thankyou .

hello and thanks for your question. Unfortunately there is no cure for Alzheimer's type dementia. Medications like memantidine an aricept can be helpful in the early stages but do not help much once the disease progresses. The best things you can do for you mother are to make her as comfortable as possible. Try not to get irritated with her when she forgets things. Don't correct her if she makes a mistake, that leads to more anxiety for her. Also as the disease progresses, it is very helpful to keep her daily routine the same. In advanced disease even going out for a visit can disrupt her and make her very agitated. Good luck to you.
