Suggest Treatment For An Intracerebral Hemorrhage

My wife had an intracerebral hemorrhage about five months ago. She was hospitalized 77 days from intensive, intermediate, post acute and then a rehab center. Since she s been home she sleeps at least 14 hours every day. Why does she feel tired all the time?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Intracranial bleeds from aneurysms or other bleeding source has a well known reputation for causing patients to be excessively sleepy, tired, and fatigued. Your wife is advised to be worked up fully for other causes of fatigue and sleepiness which could be addressed such as hypothyroidism, other metabolic derangements or abnormalities, infectious sources of problems in the urine or blood, etcetera.

Before deciding that the symptoms are strictly to do with the bleed then tincture of time may be the best medicine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi
