Suggest Treatment For Anal Pain After Anal Sphincterotomy
I had lateral anal sphinctertomy 14 days back. But the pain in my anal region is still there. It subsidies on till pain killer has its effect. And starts immediately after some hours again. What to do plz help as I am in a lot of discomfort. Suggest any ointment for the painkillers have started upsetting my stomach
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of lateral anal sphincterotomy 14 days back but the pain still persists and painkillers have started upsetting the stomach.
This indicates that the proper post-operative care has not been taken. I would suggest you the following: Sitz bath in a tub with warm water before and after passing bowel moment and at home after working hours. Laxatives to continue. Re-examination by your operating surgeon to see what is it that is causing pain, is it some sort of an abscess or so has to be seen. Many a times there is development of a hematoma due to lateral sphincterotomy, which is a blind procedure and can cause so. Treatment of the specific cause can help you a lot. You can apply local xylocaine jelly. You may need a course of an antibiotic if there is an evidence of an infection.
