Suggest Treatment For Anxiety Issues With Throat Pain In Children
Hi my little girl is suffering from an anxiety problem about being ill and can't stop worrying . She gets tummy pains and a tight throat and hot and cold flushes. She also says she feels rotton and is very depressed.. Could st. johns wort help her .She is 10.
Depression and anxiety disorders are not very common in children but some children may experience these symptoms. The symptoms in her like repeated worries, persistent pains in stomach, cold flushes, feeling like rotten and depressed mood should not be ignored. She might be having some anxiety disorder or depressive disorder of childhood onset. Consult a good psychiatrist and take proper opinion regarding her situation. Such symptoms may progress to severe depression in later life and may result in poor school performance.
St Johns wart can help to reduce her anxiety but proper treatment in form of medicines like SSRIs as fluoxetine, sertraline etc should be taken. These drugs are also approved for use in children.
Thanks, try to talk to her and try to find out any underlying conflict if any for her symptoms.
