General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your problem can be strain of back muscles or damage to intervertebral disc most likely. In such case an examination with an orthopedician followed by x ray if needed can rule out the problem. In case of nerve deficits an MRI will be needed to rule out nerve compression syndromes. All these are initially managed conservatively.I usually give muscle relaxants like thiocolchicoside NSAIDs like Aceclofenac and neurotropic drugs.I also advise them to do physiotherapy in nerve compression syndromes cause by lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.Lumbar supporting belt also will be helpful. You should also avoid lifting weights.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
